About Us

The Kings Head is a welcoming 15th Century country pub in the historic village of Bildeston. Originally a wool warehouse in the 1400s, it was converted to a hostelry in the 16th Century with landlord records dating back to 1766. This cosy local Inn is blessed with a high timber framed ceiling, an inglenook fireplace with a bar serving local Real Ales as well as a selection of hand picked Artisan wines to drink in or take away (from the micro wine shop).

We had help from some kind friends and extremely talented crafts people to add their unique touches to this beautiful old village pub. In particular it was a true honour to have had our majestic bespoke sign created for us by ‘master of the airbrush’ the inimitable Mark Wilkinson of Masque Studio. Many will be familiar with his work as he is the artistic vision behind neo-progressive rock bands such as Marillion, their lead singer Fish, as well as bands such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Mark has created our Scandinavian King as a powerful figurehead and we hope under his piercing blue eyed gaze you will feel welcome and enjoy many wonderful times at The Kings Head Bildeston.

Our Story

After years in the wine & music industries running Mayfly Wine Co. and Nova Music respectively, we set up a joint venture 'Notes Wine & Music', the home of which is this cosy Suffolk pub, The Kings Head. It is a comforting watering hole steeped in history with an eclectic selection of everyday drinking wines and local Real Ales, it also provides a wine shop for the local and surrounding area. We have stayed true to the heritage and character of the building in being a place of warmth and conviviality and will host special events including pub quizzes, live music, bespoke winemaker dinners as well as ticketed wine & cheese tastings!
