About the event
Our Wine Corner Concert series continues this month with one of Nova's finest long-standing artists - Hattie Whitehead. This is an extremely rare and very special opportunity to see one of the UK's most captivating and awe inspiring singer- songwriters. Influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, Hattie's songwriting is steeped in the classic tradition accompanied by a sublime and stirring, honeyed vocal and effortless guitar playing style informed by influences such at John Martyn and Nick Drake. Her songs tackle themes of grief, friendship, relationships, and the processing of difficult emotions, which are tied together, as the Telegraph paper writes, by 'enthralling melodies and soul-baringly honest lyrics.’
Richer Unsigned – 'Her silky-yet-soaring voice adds a richness to her music, highlighted beautifully in our chosen track “Ups and Downs”, an ode to her guitar.' The I Newspaper - ‘The new single from the rising west London born folk-pop singer-songwriter is deeply melodic, building soulful, lilting vocals, subtle harmonies, swelling guitars and warm atmospherics.’ Prog Magazine - 'The singer-writer from Richmond in London, wears her heart and her accomplished song craft on her sleeve with the self-released single More Than That. It’s an appealingly open faced love song.’ For Folk's Sake – ‘Hattie's got the sort of talent that means in a couple of years time we'll all be boasting about being here tonight'
